Tenth Circuit Solicitor Chrissy Adams announced Monday that she will run for re-election.
Adams, a Republican, said she has increased efficiency and effectiveness of prosecution in the Solicitors Office in the three years since her first election.
She said by getting cases to court faster she's reduced the percentage of inmates awaiting court procedures at county facilities from 75 percent to 49 percent in Anderson County and from about 50-60 percent to 39 percent in Oconee.
She cited tax dollar savings of $50,000 in the past three years by reducing the number of state cars taken home by employees in her office from nine to two
Adams said her office had an 89 percent trial conviction rate last year.
Total convictions have increased 35 percent in Anderson and 25 percent in Oconee since she took office, she said.
More people were sent to prison this past fiscal year than any year since 2000, she said.
Adams, 40, a Charleston native, has degrees from Clemson University and the University of South Carolina and has been a prosecutor for 14 years.
A married mother of two, she has lived in the 10th Judicial Circuit for 10 years. |
