Ms. Adams, first elected in 2004, announced her candidacy in Anderson with a number of county and local officials, including Anderson County Sheriff David Crenshaw, standing behind her. Both candidates made appearances in Anderson and Oconee counties on Monday.
Ms. Adams said she would be proud to let voters judge her performance.
She said her first term has resulted in convictions of 89 percent of cases brought to trail. She did not account for the number of cases that have yet to be tried.
Four years ago, the high percentage is a figure that she set as a goal.
“I knew it should be done,” she said. “I was sure it could be done. I’m proud to say that we have done it.”
Ms. Adams said her office has improved delivery of justice “with half the staff and twice the workload of our neighboring circuits.”
“Our efforts have meant an increased number of defendants convicted in Anderson of 35 percent and in Oconee of 25 percent,” Ms. Adams said in a statement.
The winner of the June 10 primary would face any challenger from the Democratic Party.
Filing for the both primaries began March 16 and closes at noon on March 30.
